Romans - Introduction

The Apostle Paul wrote this book to the church in Rome. It was written on Paul’s third missionary journey from Corinth (Romans 15:23-25).This epistle was written about 60 A.D. Because of its massive and basic theological teachings, the book of Romans is placed first in Pauls writings. The book of Romans is the foundation for all New Testament doctrines, such as salvation, redemption, sanctification, justification, predestination, adoption, regeneration, and glorification. The central theme is the gospel of Christ ( Romans 1:16-17), but the actual theme is the righteousness of God.

The Book of Roman’s is divided into five sections. 1. The historical ( chapters 1-5 ), 2. Doctrinal. ( Chapters 6-8 ), 3. Prophetic ( chapters 9-11 ), 4. Practical ( chapters 12-14 ), and 5. Conclusion ( chapters 15-16 )

Romans - Lesson 1 (Romans 1:1-32)

Lesson 1. We will learn about the wrath of God against sin, about God’s impartial judgment on sin for Jew and Gentiles, and that no flesh is justified by the deeds of the law, for all have sinned.

Romans - Lesson 2 ( Romans 2:1-29)

Lesson 2. We will learn that the Jew and Gentile has to be Saved the same way. Man will be judged according to God’s righteousness, and God is no respecter of persons.

Romans - Lesson 3 (Romans 3:1-31)

Lesson 3. We will learn that the whole world is guilty before God and man is not justified by the deeds of the law.

Romans - Lesson 4 ( Romans 4:1-25, 5:1-2)

Lesson 4. Salvation is by grace through faith not works, Abraham was saved by faith not by works, and Saving faith is being fully persuaded that that what God had promised He had performed, Jesus came and died was buried and rose again for our justification.

In Lesson 5, we will learn of the five blessings of justification, what we are saved from and the five kings that reign.

In Lesson 6, We will learn of the power of Grace that reigns in the life of the believer, we will learn that however hard we served unrighteousness we should serve righteousness no less, and that we should yield our members to God.

In Lesson 7, We will be introduced to Dr. Law and Dr. Grace. We will also learn about the two warring natures within the believer.

(Romans 8:1-17)

In lesson 8, we will explore the Christian’s vertical relationship with Christ, and how his vertical relationship effects his horizontal relationship.

In lesson 9, we will answer the questions, 1. Are some people predestined to heaven and some to hell? 2. What can separate us from the love of God?

Romans - Lesson 10

(Romans 9:1-33)

In Chapters 9-11, we will learn about the Jews’ relationship to God in this age. The term elect in the new Testament from Matthew – Romans has been in reference to the nation of Israel, not to every individual person God chose to be saved. God has temporarily ( not permanently) set aside Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11:25

In lesson 11, We will learn how both Jew and Gentile get saved in this age. We will also learn how unsaved man goes to Hell because he pits his righteousness against God’s righteousness.

In lesson 8, we will learn that God is not done with Israel.There is always a remnant that has not bowed the knee to Baal and that Israel has blindness in part until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

In lesson 13, we will learn about a living sacrifice and the gifts God has given each one of us to serve with.

In lesson 14, we will learn as Christians we are to obey the laws of the land, also we are not to be sleeping Christians for Christ is coming again.

(Romans 14:1-23)

In lesson 15, we learn about the Christian’s relationship to other Christians on a personal level.

Romans - Lesson 16

(Romans 15:1-33)

In lesson 16, we will learn whether we are to please ourselves or others. The believer is to follow the Savior’s example and be an example to others.
